3M™ Performance Soft Sanding Sponge, 800-1000 grit, 03089

Details
3M Performance Soft Sanding Sponge 03089 is a 2.75 x 5.5 inch sponge that's less than one half inch thick. With a blend of mineral sizes, they deliver the same cutting power as 800 to 1000 grit sandpaper. These ultra fine grits are used for lightly scratching (called scuffing) the area around a repair before painting. 3M™ Performance Soft Sanding Sponges get into tight, hard-to-reach spots for auto body finishing repairs and touch ups.

Designed as a better surface finishing solution, each sponge combines quality 3M abrasives with a highly flexible foam backing -- creating a flexible way to uniformly sand curved areas such as bumpers, complex body lines, headlight openings, door handles, door jambs, and more.

About the 3M Body Repair System

The 3M Body Repair System connects two great brands and demonstrates how 3M & Bondo® branded products work together to achieve an excellent body repair. The four-stage process highlights the different steps for repairing everything from a paint scratch to a small dent to a patch of rustred out metal.

The stages explain how products from different categories – such as abrasives, tapes, body filler and tools – work together during each stage of a repair.

Stage 1 products are for removal of material in damaged areas in preparation for treatments and repair. These products help mask the area and remove paint and rust. Stage 2 products are for removing dents, treating and repairing rust, reinforcing holes in preparation for filler application, pulling dents patching holes and making small repairs.

Stage 3 products are for applying body filler, feathering, sanding, and re-applying. These products are for preparing the surface for primer. Stage 4 products are for the final step -- sealing with primer, paint and polish.
